Our Curriculum

The Pyramid Framework Approach.

The Pyramid Model is a conceptual framework of evidence-based practices for promotin young children’s healthy, intellectual, ocial and emotional development. We believe that for any child to be able to engage in any meaningful academic activity, they must be balanced both socially and emotionally. The model therefore provides our learners with functional activities in a context in which learners can acquire and practice skills, creating meaning for the learner. There’s an emphasis on interactive learning, such as cooking, work presentation, playing motion games. Priority is also given to promoting functional communication as a key element of the pyramid. The concern is that children communicate in whatever modality. Whatever it is, we want to be sure every learner communicates because that’s foundational to all the learning. The priority is a learner’s ability to make requests for preferred items, to ask for help or for a break, and to communicate instead of exhibiting inappropriate behavior.

ASDAN

Our curriculum for teaching and learning is the ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network). ASDAN offers a flexible approach to learning and an imaginative way of accrediting young people’s achievements. It provides a wide range of curriculum award programs for students with a wide range of abilities and students who have learning
difficulties.
ASDAN Award Programs blend activity-based curriculum enrichment with a framework for the development, assessment, and accreditation of key skills and other personal and social skills, with emphasis on rewarding achievement.

ACE ABA System

The ASDAN program is further enriched using the ACE System; an ABA Software System
with everything you need to effectively run an ABA classroom or program. It is an evidencebased teaching technology providing the tools our behaviour analysts, teachers, and direct care staff need to improve efficiency and maximize learner progress. The ACE system is a non-profit product of The New England Centre for Children (NECC).
